NEXTGEN Jiu-Jitsu Tournament © Serge Gouin 2018
I love Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It has now been part of my life for more than two years. It helps me stay focused, not only on the mats but all aspects of life in general.
I have been at a few competitions over the years, but I have yet to enter one. To be honest, it scares me. There is no way I will show up in front of someone in what I find is a “half shape”. If I put myself out there I want to give my all, this way, regardless of the result I will know I went all out.
I am the kind of guy that sets a goal and goes for it. The same way I have completed a Full Marathon in 2015, and about 15 half Marathons. The same way I made it up to the highest belt in my style of Karate.
So here it is, my goal for 2019: I will compete as a white belt. Now I just need to find a date and place…
In the mean time, here are a few images I took of today’s NextGen BJJ Tournament at La Cite Collegiale, here, in Ottawa:

You can see all the remaining photos I took here.
UPDATE:
I will be competing at the Sub X Grappling Select Tournament on Feb 9th, 2019 in Ottawa!

Good luck on your competition!! You are an inspiration to me. Keep the posts coming! I love reading your blog!
